About Us
Where it all began:
It all started in February 1961. After completing my National Service came the desire to settle down with Jackie.I purchased the bike shop from my father and rented the building. At that time the cycle trade was in a bad way and to stand a chance of surviving we had to sell any thing we could. Toys, prams, pushchairs and mopeds all came into the picture.
The first real innovation came from Moulton. It was through this that I understood that innovation in the market place sells product. This mixture although enabled me to provide for my wife and family was not the ideal way to run a business. Things had to change and in the late sixties I made the decision to concentrate on two wheels - bicycles and motor cycles. Progress was made although there was little capital available for any major improvement.
In the late '70s BMX became a marketing success, I still find the numbers sold amazing. In 1979 the finance was available to build an extension doubling our floor space .The result of more stock on display was an increase in turnover. By now we were totally concentrating on the sales of bicycles
The next big step was the introduction of mountain bikes as early as 1987 the first Specialized bike came into the store from then on the advancement of cycle development was accelerated and we now handle Trek, Specialized and Giant brands. The most satisfying result of the strong market in mountain bikes is the overall development and diversity of the sport.
The only way a good service can be given is by having a strong team of knowledgeable people to serve and answer any queries. We are still growing from strength to strength. With over 50 years of business we are looking forward to continuing as a strong independent bicycle dealer providing a personal service to all cyclists.
